New Haven City Hall.

Welcome to the website for the New Haven Mayor's Youth Advisory Council!

We are very proud of our new website, especially since it was constructed by high school seniors, Joe Wood and Matt Lozo.

This non-profit and non-political organization offers life skills that teens can use as a foundation for success; including: teamwork, organization, leadership, individuality, responsibility, decision making, creativity and speaking skills. By offering a balance of interaction with government officials, and allowing young people to give back to the community through service projects, teen members benefit from positive youth development. This provides a youth voice in the community along with the skills that are necessary to become leaders in our own area.

The young adults who sit on this Youth Advisory Council serve to provide a voice for the youth in our community. This allows teens the opportunity to address issues and concerns that affect young people, and offer solutions to local government officials through community involvement.

MYAC has become more diverse than ever. This group now has 25 members and is the largest and most active in the State of Indiana. MYAC represents 10 different schools in Allen County:

- Blackhawk Christian High School
- New Haven Middle School
- Carroll High School
- New Haven High School
- Central Lutheran School
- St. John the Baptist School
- Concordia High School
- Snider High School
- Heritage High School
- Home Schooled Student
- Leo High School

Please take a moment and browse through our website and seen how strong and involved the youth have become throughout the area. We are always looking for more people to get involved and make a difference.

There are many reasons to get involved:

- Provide a voice for the youth in our community

- Open doors for opportunities with local government to serve as a 'student member' on the City Council, Plan Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Park Board, Fire Governing Body and Board of Public Works & Safety.

- Potential internship for Youth Council members

- Teens who simply want to make a change

- Gain a better understanding of how government works from the local to state level

- Public service through community service projects

- Meet elected officials, including the Secretary of State, State Senators, local Judges, City Councilmen and Mayors.

You can also get involved. Simply download the application or contact the Mayor's Office at (260) 748-7070 for more information.
