MEMBERSHIP

Application for membership for the New Haven Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council is open to all young adults who complete this application, reside in New Haven and Allen County, and are between the ages of 13-18.

FUNCTIONS

The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council will represent their community in a responsible fashion and shall serve as an advisory council to the City of New Haven regarding community issues affecting youth and shall serve as a liaison between the young adults of the community and the City. The Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council will enable youth to work toward goals that empower all of the community’s youth and to undertake service projects that enhance the community.

SELECTION

Members of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council will be selected by a panel. Selection will not be made based on academic achievement, leadership or organization skills, however, all elements will be taken into consideration. The determining factors of the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council will be based on the following components:

- Interest in participation on the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council.
- Willingness to be part of a team that discuss town issues affecting youth.
- Commitment to attend monthly meetings.
